Why two offices
Stronghold opened in Tampa in 2017 and added Lake Mary to cover Central Florida. The two are about two hours apart and between them reach most of the state’s business population along the I-4 corridor and the Gulf coast.
Which office you work with matters less than it sounds. The team works across both, the monthly process is identical, and most clients meet in person a few times a year at most. The offices exist because some conversations are better had across a table, particularly the first one.

Local specifics that actually matter
Florida has no state personal income tax, which is why the tax planning conversation here looks different than it does elsewhere. What Florida businesses do have:
- Sales and use tax, filed on form DR-15, monthly for most businesses.
- Reemployment tax, form RT-6, for anyone running payroll.
- The Sunbiz annual report, due by 1 May, with a late fee that is not waived.
- A county or city local business tax receipt, which varies by jurisdiction and is the one most new businesses miss.
- Florida corporate income tax at 5.5%, for entities that owe it.
Counties add their own layer on top. Tangible personal property tax is filed with the county property appraiser by 1 April, and local business tax receipts are issued at both county and city level, so a business inside city limits often owes two.
